RADIO JOURNALISM
When I first came to Ithaca College, I thought that the only way to get involved with the radio stations, VIC and WICB, was to be a DJ. I figured if I ever wanted to make it on air, I would have to pull the graveyard shift every night. As I quickly found out, there are so many more options for radio journalists. After a bit of a mixup, I was put on the newscaster schedule without even knowing I had signed up. I showed up to my first 6 am shift just to tell someone that I did not want to newscast, but after being told to "just try it", I did my first newscast. Unsurprisingly, I fell in love. While my stint on morning drive lasted only my first semester, I continued doing afternoon news for VIC and WICB and loved it.
